This week was all about more community helpers!
Monday Our week started by learning about chefs! The platypi pretended to be chefs with our play kitchen. Then we transitioned to the real kitchen to bake a chocolate cake. While that was cooking, we discussed fruits and vegetables and did a food coloring sheet. The remainder of the day was spent playing with pretend pizza and sandwiches. They loved taking orders and making their own versions.
Tuesday Getting out of the house can be very difficult with three children under four, so rather than learning about librarians at our local library, we explored our own. We went to “our library” and read numerous books, practiced using our pretend library cards, and checked out books. The platypi loved exploring at books themselves as well as group read alouds.
Wednesday We learned all about farmers! The day started with a farm themed sensory bin complete with various animals, corn, and a farmer with his tractor. The platypi practiced both fine motor and math skills with a sheep wool counting activity. They also did a color by number, constructed farm animals from pattern blocks, and enjoyed farm themed play dough mats.
Thursday This day was focused on learning about veterinarians through pretend play. They also matched animals to their x-rays!
Friday We talked about teachers, grocers, and other people who help our community run smoothly. We then built a community out of our magnetic tiles. We wrapped up our week by playing pretend grocery store and doing a community helper sort.
Given we learned about libraries this week check out our book list page to view our whole library!
